DOWDY, OSWALD D.

Oswald D. Dowdy, age 81, of Vinton died Wednesday, January 15, 1992 in a local hospital. He was a member of the Vinton Baptist Church. Mr. Dowdy retired from the VA Medical Center in Salem and was a veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Frances Thurman Dowdy; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn D. and Jack E. Eanes of Dover, Del.; son and daughter-in-law, Milton D. and Bonnie B. Dowdy of Vinton; five grandchildren, Julie, Jennifer, and Jeffrey Eanes; Aaron and Christopher Dowdy; one sister, Mrs. Edna D. Tinsley of Vinton; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at Oakey's Vinton Chapel 9:30 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Dr. William L. Ross officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Baptist Childrens Home in Salem in memory of Hubert H. Dowdy. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
