OTEY, WALTER M.

OTEY, WALTER M., JR. Walter M. "Bud" Otey, Jr., age 71, of Roanoke, died Sunday in a local hospital. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School and graduated in 1947 from Virginia Tech with a degree in Ceramic Engineering. Mr. Otey was a retired chief executive officer from Webster Brick Company and a member of Shenandoah Baptist Church. He served on the Board of Directors of Mountain Trust Bank, was a former member of the Roanoke Rotary Club and was predeceased by a son, Warren Hobbie Otey. Surviving are his wife, Jean Hobbie Otey; one son, Walter M. Otey, III, Roanoke; two daughters, Leatha O. Williams, Roanoke; Mary Otey Damon, Chesapeake; five grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Shenandoah Baptist Church or the City Rescue Mission. Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with the Rev. Robert L. Alderman officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. Arrangements by Oakey's Roanoke.
