`SINGLE-BULLET' THEORY UNTENABLE

ALL THE CONFUSION surrounding Oliver Stone's movie "JFK" is unnecessary. The government's explanation that a lone assassin shot and killed Kennedy is held together by the "single-bullet" theory.

Oswald would be very lucky to get off three shots in the 6 1/2 seconds when firing occurred. Four shots would be impossible. We know one bullet hit the curb along the street; another hit Kennedy in the head, killing him. This leaves the "magic" bullet causing seven wounds and being found in pristine condition.

This bullet went through Kennedy's neck and Connally's back, exiting to shatter his wrist before lodging in his thigh. The bullet had also to change directions and angles to correspond with the wounds. Oswald was shooting from a building behind and to the right of the car. Try tracing the bullet's path on a piece of paper, and it will reveal two separate paths of ordinary bullets, not one magic one.

This creates a fourth shot, which mandates a second shooter - thus a conspiracy. The "single-bullet" theory does not hold, and the government's explanation is refuted. TIMOTHY L. DYE VINTON
