LaROCCO, JAMES F.

Mr. James Francis LaRocca of Roanoke, died Tuesday evening, February 25, 1992, at his home. He was born in Utica, N.Y., on February 5, 1921, the son of the late James LaRocca and Mary Pflieger. During World WAr II, he served with the U. S. Navy and in later years was an active member of American Legion Post #248 and was a Veterans Administration volunteer. For more than forty two years, he was an employee of General Electric retiring in 1985. Mr. LaRocca served as a volunteer at the General Electric Federal Employees Credit Union. An avid sports fan, he coached in Salem's Sandlot Football Program for many years. He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church. In 1949, he married Jennie Signor who survives him. He is also survived by four sons, James J. LaRocca, Graham, N. C. Joseph C. LaRocca, Salem; Jeffrey E. LaRocca and John A. LaRocca, both of Roanoke. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Michael (Virginia) Robilotto and Mrs. George (Anne) LaNeve; and two brothers, Joseph LaRocca and John LaRocca, all of Utica, N.Y.; also surviving are four grandchildren, Francis Tyler, Meleah Dee LaRocca of Graham, N. C.; and Jacqueline Marie and Catherine Anne LaRocca of Salem; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A Liturgical Prayer Service will be conducted by the Rev. George J. Gormley at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Joseph Metzger on Friday, February 28, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with entombment at St. Andrew's Cemetery. Friends may call 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
