BUCHANAN MAN GETS MAY 20 EXECUTION DATE

The state has set May 20 as the execution date for convicted murderer Roger Keith Coleman, the attorney general's office said Tuesday.

Coleman was convicted in Buchanan County in 1982 of raping and killing his wife's sister. He missed the deadline for filing appeals in the Virginia court system. Those appeals later were dismissed by the state Supreme Court.

Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the state high court's decision.
