KARATE STUDENTS PLACE IN LYNCHBURG MEET

Fifteen students from the American Freestyle Karate School brought home 23 trophies from the St. Valentine Classic Championship tournament, held recently in Lynchburg.

Andrea Painter won first in fighting in women's white belt. Bill Brewster was a men's white-belt fighting finalist, and Sandra Scruggs was a women's white belt fighting finalist.

Kenny Garner (men's red/brown) won second in forms and fighting. Chris Abram won third in self-defense in men's green belt. Rex Caldwell (men's blue/green) won second in fighting and fourth in forms.

Scott Sharp won third place in fighting in lightweight black belt. Clark Hill won third place in fighting in middleweight black belt. David Rolfe was third in fighting in heavyweight black belt.

Joey Wyatt (blue/green 7-and-under) won first place in forms and second in fighting and self-defense. Chris Sams (blue/green 8-10) won first in forms. Danny Cox (blue/green 8-10) won first in fighting.

Brian Mayes (blue/green 14-16) won first in self-defense and third in forms and fighting. Jason Seligman (blue/green 14-16) won first in forms and fighting and second in weapons. Jerry Sinkford (blue/green 14-16) won second in forms and fighting.
