AIDING YOUTH WITH ATTENTION DEFICITS

PARENTS, educators and medical and mental-health professionals should be aware that Virginia senators will consider House Joint Resolution No. 210 requesting the Board of Education and the commonwealth's institutions of higher education to respond to the needs of children with attention-deficit disorders.

The resolution calls for preservice and in-service training of teachers, focusing on the needs of attention-deficit-disorder children, and for including this under the health-impaired category qualifying for special education. DEBRA W. MAXEY ROANOKE
