BARBERS IN NATIONAL MEET

Cave Spring twins Ronde and Tiki Barber will participate in a national indoor track meet on March 14-15 at Syracuse, N.Y.

The meet is open by invitation only to the nation's premier high school track stars.

The Barbers gained their invitation by being listed among the best in the nation in two events.

Ronde Barber has the top time nationally for the 55-meter hurdles at 7.42 seconds. Tiki Barber qualified for the Syracuse meet with a long jump of 23 feet, 5 inches, second nationally behind Sheddric Fields of Dallas South Oak Cliff High School.

Ronde Barber is unbeaten in his speciality event going into this week's Group AAA meet at George Mason in Fairfax. Tiki Barber lost earlier in the long jump season, but has not lost since moving back to make his approach longer. - Staff report
