FERRUM SLAMS SAVANNAH

The Ferrum baseball team opened its season by hitting five home runs and clobbering Savannah 21-1 on Saturday.

The Panthers scored all 21 runs in the first four innings, including nine in the second. Ferrum belted three homers in a six-run fourth inning, capped by a three-run shot by Chad Maddox.

Chris Holt went 2-for-3 with three RBI and Scott David and Chris Allen combined on a six-inning two-hitter for Ferrum. The game was shortened because of the slaughter rule.
