HORNETS DOMINATE ODAC MEN'S INDOOR TRACK MEET

Lynchburg College took first place in 11 of 14 events on Saturday to win its third straight men's Old Dominion Athletic Conference indoor track championship.

The Hornets piled up 219 points, an ODAC record. Bridgewater was second with 101 points, Washington and Lee (80) third, Roanoke (4) fourth and Eastern Mennonite (0) fifth.

Lynchburg's Jack Toms was voted ODAC coach of the year, and the Hornets' Gregg Cavaliere was voted conference player of the year after winning the 1,500-meter, the 800, the 3,000 and running a leg on the winning 3,200 relay team.

Tracy Lewis of Lynchburg set an ODAC record with a high jump of 6 feet, 8 1/2 inches.

For the Generals, Scott Covey took second in the 55 hurdles, Jim Henry placed second in the shot put, Bo Hannah finished second in the 3,000 and Washington and Lee's 400 relay team captured first. - Staff report
