A PLACE TO START IN ETHICS TRAINING

I LISTENED intrigued to the prosecuting attorney and the city manager discuss the need for a training course in professional ethics for the city of Roanoke. A good starting point would be the city's Board of Zoning Appeals, where conflict of interest is so blatant that certain members find it difficult to function properly.

I feel that it is a sad situation when the city can't give our firefighters a T-shirt and a hat (news story, Feb. 19). These people deserve incentives on a regular basis. After all, they are in the business of protecting our lives. DORIS H. BANKS ROANOKE
