TWITTY, JONES AND GILL COMING TO SALEM APRIL 17

A "Country Music Extravaganza" featuring Conway Twitty, George Jones and Vince Gill is scheduled for April 17 at the Salem Civic Center.

Tickets for the 8 p.m. show go on sale March 16 at 10 a.m. Reserved-seating tickets will be $19.50 at the civic center box office and all TicketMaster locations.

The trio last visited the area in February 1991 when they played to the largest audience ever to attend a country music concert at the Salem Civic Center.

Twitty has had more No. 1 hit singles in Billboard Magazine than anyone else in country music - or anyone in pop, beating Elvis and the Beatles. His hits include "Hello Darlin'," "Linda on My Mind," "I'd Love to Lay You Down" and "It's Only Make Believe."

Jones is known for his trademark tales of honky-tonks, lovesick boozers and man's eternal battle with the bottle.

Gill was the 1991 Country Music Association's Male Vocalist of the Year.

The civic center box office can be reached at 375-3004.
