GIBBS, ANNE M.

Mrs. Anne Montgomery Gibbs, died March 11, 1992 in Lewis Gale Hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Gibbs was born in Abingdon, Va. to James Monroe and Mary Collings Montgomery, both deceased. She is survived by her husband, Colonel Joseph C. Gibbs of Richfield Retirement Center, Salem, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Gay Montgomery Finney, Tucson, Ariz.; Mrs. Jane Jones, Abingdon, Va.; a nephew, Mr. Ralph Finney, Jr., Belleview, Wash. Mrs. Gibbs was awarded a bachelor's degree by Radford College, a master's degree by Peabody University, and did additional graduate work at the University of Virginia and Colombia University. She retired in 1976 from the Alexandria, Va. School System, where she was Supervisor of Elementary Education. Prior to that, she served in the same capacity with the Bedford County School System and in Pearisburg, Va. Memorial services will be held at St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church, Roanoke, Friday, March 13, 1992 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. James Drinard Smith officiating. Interment will take place in Knollkreg Memorial Park, Abingdon, Va. on Saturday, March 14, 1992 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Laurie Alley McAlpine officiating. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Salem Rescue Squad, Salem, Va., the American Heart Association, 4504 Starkey Rd., Roanoke, Va. 24014 or the American Cancer Society, P.O.
