PRINCESS REPRIMANDED FOR TALKING POLITICS

A row between the Count of Paris and his daughter has French monarchists abuzz this week, wondering who will have the last word on whether royal women can talk politics.

Henri d'Orleans, a leading pretender to the French throne, strongly reprimanded Chantal de France, a 45-year-old mother of three, for expressing her personal political views at a dinner party last month. The rebuke was published Tuesday in a magazine that covers international royalty.

Invoking a centuries-old law that forbids women from ascending to the throne, the count likened his daughter to a "rebel or insurgent" for speaking publicly without his permission.
