SPECIALIST TO HELP WITH HAYSI TOURISM

Bob Munday, a retired Tennessee Valley Authority employee specializing in development work, will help the town of Haysi in Dickenson County find ways of enhancing its tourism potential along with that of the nearby Breaks Interstate Park.

The park, on the Virginia-Kentucky border, is expected to draw more visitors than it does now with the region's white-water rafting season being extended with longer water releases from dams.

Rep. Rick Boucher, D-Abingdon, was joined by U.S. Sen. Charles Robb, D-Va., in a request for TVA to provide a staff person to work with the park commission and town of Haysi on cataloging and using the region's tourism assets. Boucher announced that TVA has agreed to do so. - Southwest bureau
