OPEN-SPACE PLANNING WORKSHOPS SCHEDULED

Montgomery County residents interested in preserving natural, cultural and historic resources are invited to participate in a workshop on open space planning.

The workshop will be offered at five locations in the county on Monday and Tuesday. All workshops start at 7:30 p.m.:

\ Monday: Shawsville High School library; Prices Fork Elementary School cafeteria; Blacksburg Community Center, Patrick Henry Drive.

\ Tuesday: Auburn High School Library, Riner; Slussers Chapel Church of God, Mount Tabor.

The workshops are part of an effort by county planners to develop an open-space plan. The workshops will ask the general public to identify and rank resources which should be considered for inclusion in the plan. Items of interest may be general, such as prime farm land or ground water, or specific, such as Poverty Creek.

A second round of workshops in April will identify methods to protect the resources. Call 382-5750.
