BOWERS WILL TRY TO WORK WITH LABOR

THIS IS in response to statements made by James Harvey in Joel Turner's news article Feb. 27.

David Bowers made no "wild promises" to labor to obtain their vote. He only said he would do everything possible to use local labor in the Roanoke Valley and not hire laborers from other areas when so many local people are out of work.

Everyone should work with City Council. Yes, people on council, especially the mayor, should be able to work with everyone; but at least, Mr. Bowers is willing to try to work with labor. H. LEWIS BARNETT SR. ROANOKE
