ONLY BLACKS CAN UNDERSTAND ICE CUBE ALBUM

HERE WE go again! To the anti-defamation league of B'nai B'rith (letter about Ice Cube, Feb. 19): If you don't like it, don't listen to it.

There are 20 cuts on "Death Certificate." Why does everyone mention only two songs to declare the whole album racist?

Unless you've lived in a black community, you can't understand Ice Cube's album. Have you ever been watched in every store you went into? Been pulled over by the police because you're driving a BMW? Watched old ladies hold their purses tighter when you walk by them? No? Then you're not black!

How come no critics are downgrading Ice Cube for talking about shooting blacks and lynching Eazy-E? I guess it's all right for blacks to kill each other as long as we don't bad-mouth other races.

Ice Cube is just releasing years of frustration. All that blacks want in Amerikkka is to be treated as equals. Is that too much to ask? TIM FINNEY ROANOKE
