TRAFFIC LIGHT NEEDED NEAR RADFORD ARSENAL

I am concerned about the intersection of Walton, Prices Fork and Peppers Ferry roads near the Radford Arsenal. I must cross this area twice a day on weekdays to get to school, usually at rush hour. If you are trying to cross from Walton or Prices Fork onto or across Peppers Ferry Road, the maneuver is extremely difficult.

I would like to propose that a traffic light be placed here. It would only have to work at certain times of the day, perhaps when there are shift changes at the arsenal. Another option is to place weight-sensitive pads under Prices Fork and Walton roads at the intersections.

Many people might complain about the cost for such a venture. I am talking about lives. There have been many accidents at this intersection. I believe it's about time the county did something about it.

Situated at the bottom of a huge dip, this intersection is a wall of metal traveling 55 miles per hour in both directions down Peppers Ferry Road. Turns here are formidable.

I am a victim of this intersection myself, though admittedly one who was not out of fault. However, I truly believe a traffic light would have prevented this, as well as many other accidents in this area. If a light could save just one life, I think it would be worth the slight attention of our government's traffic division.\ Anuj Patel\ Radford
