HAWKINS, ALFRED G.

BEDFORD - Alfred Gibbs Hawkins, 72 of Route 5, passed away Sunday, March 22, 1992, in Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Bedford County on March 21, 1920, a son of the late Major Alfred Hawkins and Beatrice Padgett Hawkins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Victoria S. Hawkins. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. He is survived by two brothers, Lloyd Hawkins, Salem; Clarence E. Hawkins, Bedford; two sisters, Neda Craig, Bedford, Louise Bishop, Clinchport, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Kenneth Bryan. The family will receive friends at Updike Funeral Home, Monday 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
