FIREFIGHTERS HAVE BLAZE ON MOUNTAIN CONTAINED

Firefighters have contained a 100-acre forest fire on Elephant Mountain near Buena Vista, forestry officials said Wednesday.

The blaze in George Washington National Forest was caused by firing at the city-owned shooting range, said W. Terry Smith, a spokesman for the U.S. Forest Service.

Smith said the city of 6,400 was not threatened by the blaze.
