GM ANNOUNCES RECALL OF 14,500 VEHICLES
General Motors Corp. announced separate recalls of 14,500 vehicles, more than half of them trucks and buses with throttles that could stick in the open position.GM said the possibly defective throttles led it to recall about 7,500 1989-91 Chevrolet and GMC model B6 trucks and 1993 model B7 school buses with 6-liter engines.
GM said drivers can stop the vehicles by simply depressing the brake pedal, which unhooks the throttle. GM dealers will inspect the vehicles and replace any necessary parts.
GM also said it is notifying about 7,000 owners of 1991 Pontiac Grand Prix coupes of a condition in which drivers can simultaneously operate fog lamps, low-beam head lamps and high-beam head lamps, leading to possible overload of a circuit breaker and loss of head-lamp power.
GM dealers will install free a new fog-lamp relay, a circuit breaker and a circuit breaker terminal to correct the problem.
