OBIT WOODY, WALTER GILES

WOODY, Walter Giles, 94, of Rt. 2, Rocky Mount, died Wednesday, March 17, 1993, at his residence, Fairview Acres. He was born in Franklin County, January 9, 1899, a son of the late Ferdinand R. and Mary Elizabeth Tyree Woody. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Motley Woody, seven brothers, George Lee Woody, George Wiley Woody, Victor Morton Woody, Allen O. Woody, Ferdinand T. Woody, Albert T. Woody, James William Woody, also two sisters, Annie S. Belcher and Myrtle McNeil. Mr. Woody was the oldest living member of Beulah Baptist Church. Surviving are special nieces and nephews, Janet and Leland Mitchell, Emily and Trinkle Woody, William Mitchell, Walter Mitchell, Leigh Anne Mitchell, all of Rocky Mount. Also surviving are several additional nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted in Beulah Baptist Church 2 p.m Friday with the Rev. T. Ivey Adams Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Woody Family Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to the Organ Fund of Beulah Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Service, 342 S. Main St., Rocky Mount.
