2 ESCAPED YOUTHS CAUGHT, 1 AT LARGE

Two of three teen-age boys who fled Monday night from the Coyner Springs Juvenile Detention Center after overpowering a counselor were apprehended early Friday in Southeast Roanoke.

Police said the youths, ages 15 and 17, were found sleeping in a shed about 1:45 a.m. in the 700 block of Montrose Avenue.

Another 17-year-old involved in the escape was still at large Friday.

Mark Johnson, superintendent of the center, said the youths will be charged with assault and violating a court order.

The employee who was overpowered was not seriously injured and did not require hospital treatment.

All three youths have criminal charges pending, including burglary, automobile theft and automobile break-ins, police said.

One of the three is scheduled to stand trial for burglary and robbery in Franklin County.
