WINSTON, GLADYS OWEN

WINSTON, Gladys Owen, 78, of Route 2, Gladys, died Monday, January 4, 1993 at her home. She was the wife of the late G. Alexander Winston Jr. She was born in Pittsylvania County, June 20, 1914, the daughter of the late Sam David Owen and Minnie Scruggs Owen. She was a member of Wesleybury United Methodist Church. She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, R. Addison and Gerry Winston, Roanoke, George A. and Betty Winston, Brookneal, Sammy P. and Kaye Winston, William H. and Faye Winston, all of Gladys; two sisters, Mrs. George (Marie) Nester, Morganton, N.C. and Mrs. Alfred (Hazel) Williams, Gladys; seven grandchildren, Nelson Winston, Ryland Winston, Tim Winston, David Winston, Marvin Winston and Nathan Winston, W. C. Winston, four great-grandchildren, and three stepgrandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Wesleybury United Methodist Church by the Rev. Pat Watkins and Rev. Tammy L. Estep with burial in Kedron Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Finch & Finch Funeral Home, Flynn Branch in Gladys 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and other times at the residence. The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials may consider Wesleybury United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or Gladys Volunteer Fire Department.
