WEST, REV. JOSEPH MADISON

WEST, Rev. Joseph Madison, 79, of Bedford County, died Tuesday, January 5, 1993. Rev. West was a long time resident of Roanoke and a retired minister. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mamie Sigmon West. Surviving are his wife, Betty Hill West; a son, Joseph W. West of Covington; two daughters, Iris Fern Ryan of Oregon, Patricia Jean Graham of Danville; two stepdaughters, Melody Baker and Pamela Hedrick, both of Bedford County; a stepson, Bill Downs of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Minnie Trent of Roanoke; ten grandchildren, Mark A. West, Joseph W. West, Jr., Sherry W. Gillespie, Angela G. Hudson, Stephen Graham, Heather Ryan, Jonathan Ryan, Shane Ryan, Desiree Hedrick, Kody Baker; one great-grandson, Penn Gillespie. Funeral services will be conducted from Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, 2 p.m. Friday, with Rev. Aaron Rummage, Rev. Ronald Graham and Rev. John C. Mitchell, Jr. officiating. Interment to follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton. Friends may call at Lotz Roanoke Chapel 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday and also Friday morning.
