CELTICS OVERPOWERED 67-55

Charles Brown scored 20 points to lead four players in double figures as St. Anne's-Belfield defeated Roanoke Catholic 67-55 in a boys' non-conference basketball game Sunday.

Tony Williams led the Celtics (3-12) with 14 points and Charles Cunningham added 10.

Also for St. Anne's, Will Glover had 18, Byron Eston 16 and Stewart Darrell 13. \

Roanoke Catholic 48

The Celtics got in foul trouble early and St. Anne's-Belfield hit 20-of-31 free throws in the non-conference girls' game.

Katy McCartney had 20 points for St. Anne's (4-1).

Wendy Murdock had 14 to lead Roanoke Catholic (8-2). \

Saturday's boys game

\ Chilhowie 81, Marion 74: At Marion, the Warriors converted five free throws in the final 38 seconds and held off the Scarlet Hurricane in a non-district boys game.

Tim Polk led a balanced Chilhowie offense with 20 points. Shane Olinger added 19 points, D.J. Preston had 16 and Andy Blevins 15 for the Warriors.

Marion (5-4) cut its deficit to two points on a 3-point goal by Brian Cregger, but failed to score again in the final 38 seconds. Cregger had 16 points and Quentin Fisher 15 for the Scarlet Hurricane. \
