COIN COLLECTION, CASH STOLEN IN RADFORD

City police are investigating the theft of a coin collection and cash from DeVilbiss Funeral Home on Grove Avenue.

The theft of a coin collection and an undisclosed amount of cash belonging to Dan DeVilbiss was discovered Jan. 9 and reported to police, Detective Todd Jones said. There was no sign of forced entry to the building, but a safe had been forced open, Jones said. Anyone with information may call the police crime line at 731-3627.

In other Radford police news, three people have been charged with the Dec. 8 break-in to the Southwest Virginia Tobacco Co. on Walker Street. A delivery truck was broken into and 60 cartons of cigarettes, valued at $890, were taken, according to a news release.

Two men and a teen-age boy were charged with grand larceny. The men were identified as John W. Orange, 20, of McGhee's Trailer Park and Blake Sowers, 19, of Martin Avenue in Radford.
