MOTOROLA AMONG 6 TEAMS ENTERED IN TOUR DU PONT

The Motorola Cycling Team, which features Australian veteran Phil Anderson and Lance Armstrong, is among six squads that have confirmed their participation in the Tour Du Pont bicycle race, officials announced Thursday.

Anderson, 34, a longtime resident of Santa Barbara, Calif., won three stages of last year's race.

Armstrong, 21, of Plano, Texas, who turned professional one week after competing in the Summer Olympics last summer in Barcelona, won several pro-am races last season.

The 1,000-mile Tour Du Pont, which began in 1989 as the Tour de Trump, will be held May 6-16 beginning in Wilmington, Del.

Word Perfect of Holland, the world's No. 2-ranked team, also has confirmed its entry.

A field of 16-18 teams, featuring seven riders each, will compete in the race through Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina.
