2ND RAMPAGE HOME GAME MOVES

Roanoke Valley Rampage owner Larry Revo has completed arrangements to move the East Coast Hockey League club's Sunday, March 7, home game against Greensboro from the Vinton LancerLot to the Winston-Salem Coliseum Annex, a Winston-Salem (N.C.) source confirmed Friday.

It will be the Rampage's second "home game" of the season at the 2-year-old, 3,516-seat arena. Roanoke Valley played Wheeling on Jan. 21 at the Annex, drawing a near-sellout crowd of 3,334.

Revo banked a profit in the neighborhood of five figures for that game. The second one is expected to be just as profitable because the opposing Monarchs are averaging 5,452 spectators per game just 20 miles down Interstate 40.

Revo, who had remained noncommittal when asked on several occasions about the March 7 game being moved, was unavailable for comment Friday night.

The game will give Winston-Salem fans another chance to showcase their interest in minor-league hockey. Winston-Salem is rated behind Huntsville, Ala., among the likeliest locations where Revo could move the club, which is averaging a league-low 1,580 spectators in Vinton.

Barring additional late changes of venue, the Rampage has five more games slated for the LancerLot - Feb. 26, Feb. 28, March 5, March 11 and March 13.
