WRITERS' WORKS BEING SOUGHT FOR CONTEST
The Virginia Highlands Festival is accepting entries for its 41st Creative Writing Contest.
Adult categories are short-short story (under 2,000 words); short story (under 6,000 words); novel (150 pages or more); essay, and poem.
Youths may enter the story and poem categories that will be judged according to age classifications: 6-8; 9-11; 12-14; and 15-18.
Cash awards will be given in each category - for the novel, $150, first place; $100, second; and $50, third. Awards for the other adult categories are $75, $50 and $25, respectively. Youth awards are $25, $15 and $10.
