OBIT HODGES, ELLA MAE GRUBB
HODGES, Ella Mae Grubb, 104, of Vinton, died Saturday, April 10, 1993. Mrs.
Hodges was a member of Monte Vista Church of the Brethren in Franklin County,
Va. She was preceded in death by two sons, Herbert and Ernest Hodges. She was
the widow of Fred W. Hodges and is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law,
Mildred and John Slocum, Roanoke, Ada and Rufus Holt, Roanoke, Sarah and
Linford Nichols, Hopewell, Martha and Tom Stilwell, Vinton; four sons and
daughters-in-law, Wilford and Evelyn Hodges, Boones Mill, Wilbur Hodges,
Callaway, Luther and Margaret Hodges, Hopewell, Henry and Laura Hodges, Kings
Mountain, N. C.; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Hodges, Roanoke; half brother,
Chris R. (Bobby) Grubb, Seminole, Fla.; half sister, Elizabeth Aldridge,
Shawsville; a special friend, Helen Sledd, Roanoke; 41 grandchildren, three
stepgrandchildren, 100 great-grandchildren, three stepgreat-grandchildren, 49
great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-granddaughter. Funeral
services will be conducted from Lotz Roanoke Chapel 2 p.m. Monday, April 12,
1993, with the Rev. Jodie Hendricks, Rev. Maurice Wright and Rev. Frank Layman
officiating. Interment in Monte Vista Cemetery, Franklin County. The family
will receive friends at Lotz Roanoke Chapel 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Sunday.
