Pitcher Shelley Bowles scored three runs, batted in six runs and hit three doubles and a home run as Ferrum (11-8) defeated Eastern Mennonite 6-4 and 11-8 in a softball doubleheader at Ferrum.

Ferrum will be host to the Dixie Conference Tournament this weekend. Top-seeded Christopher-Newport will face the winner between Averett and Methodist. The second-seeded Panthers, winners of nine of their past 10 games, will play third-seeded North Carolina Wesleyan at 9 a.m. Saturday. The final will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday.

At Fredericksburg, Washington and Lee (9-0) got two goals each from Nicole Ripken and Angie Carrington on the way to defeating host Mary Washington 7-5 in women's lacrosse. The Generals are ranked seventh in Division III.

Kevin Pehlke and five other Virginia players scored two goals each as the Cavaliers (7-2) routed visiting VMI 23-7 in men's lacrosse at Klockner Stadium in Charlottesville on Monday. VMI is 5-5.
