W&L ROMPS OVER GUILFORD 21-4

John Hunter scored a season-high three goals and seven teammates added two each as Washington & Lee trounced Guilford 21-4 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference men's lacrosse game at Lexington. The 11th-ranked Generals have won 18 of their past 19 games.

Andy Dutton scored two goals and three assists and Dave Schminger had two goals and two assists for Washington and Lee (9-2, 5-0). Ty Tydings, Jay West and Wiemi Douoguih each scored twice.

Jeff McBridge scored two goals and assisted on three as Mount St. Mary's (Md.) rolled past VMI 18-12 at Patchin Field in Lexington.

Mount St. Mary's (3-6) led 13-11 at the end of the third period and outscored the Keydets 5-1 in the last period to capture the non-conference win. Mike Peters scored four goals to lead VMI (5-7). Jack Collins added two goals and one assist for VMI and Spencer Gill assisted on three goals. Dan DeLawyer and Tim Ervin scored two goals each.

Brad Hennegan scored four goals as the Roanoke men romped over ODAC foe Hampden-Sydney 20-6 at Salem.

The Maroons led 6-3 before the Tigers pulled to one down on a goal by Jim Cardillo. Roanoke answered with two goals in 30 seconds, the first by Hennegan at 7:32 and another by J.J. Blatt at 7:08. Hampden-Sydney (5-7, 2-4) never got close again.

Brett Smith scored three goals and Mark DiBenedetto had five assists for the Maroons (9-2, 4-0). Goalie Ben Heinsohn had 22 saves for the Tigers as Roanoke outshot Hampden-Sydney 72-32.
