OBIT WOMACK, KENT A. JR.

WOMACK, Kent A. Jr., 77, of 3438 Brandywine Avenue, S.W., Roanoke, 24018, died at his home on Sunday, June 6, 1993. He was a retired locomotive engineer who worked for the Virginian and Norfolk & Western Railway for 37 1/2 years. He was born in Roanoke and attended high school in Victoria. He was a member of the Cave Spring United Methodist Church and the Fincastle Rifles Camp of the S.C.V. He was preceded in death by a sister Betty Mae Underwood of Rich Creek, a brother, Stafford Womack of Roanoke and a granddaughter, Joanna Alise Reed of Roanoke. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Alise McLaughlin Womack of the home; three daughters, two sons, eight grandchildren, two sisters. The daughters are Frances Reed of Roanoke, wife of Michael Reed and mother of grandson, Zachary Reed; Holly Bent of Greensboro, N.C. wife of Steven Bent and Joanna Youngblood of Light House Point, Fla. The sons are R.P. Womack of Vinton, husband of Kathy Wilsey Womack and father of grandchildren, Patrick, David, Anne and Mary Kay; and Kent A. Womack, III of Annandale, husband of Karen Spencer Womack and father of grandsons Andrew, Robert, Stuart. The sisters are Mary Francis Brown of Richmond and Doris Jean Bell of Kenbridge. There will be a memorial service and reception on Saturday, June 12, 1993 at 11 a.m. in the Cave Spring United Methodist Church, 4505 Hazel Drive, SW Roanoke. The Rev. William Logan and the Rev. James W. Reynolds will officiate. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to the Cave Spring United Methodist Church Building Fund.
