LIGHT THEATRE OPENS WITH `NEW CLOTHES'

"The Emperor's New Clothes" is the first offering of Barter Theatre's First Light Theatre, which will produce plays for young people.

It will be performed at the main theater at 7 p.m. on Mondays, 10 a.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and 1 p.m. on Fridays through June 19. Admission is $3.50.

Oriental music and dance add new twists to the classic story of an arrogant emperor and his court of fools. Barter's version is set in Japan, where two rogues convince the emperor they can weave robes visible only to those fit for the positions they hold.

A young girl innocently exposes the plan, and a naked emperor.

This is the first of five First Light Theatre plays, formerly known as the Barter Youth Stage.

The First Light Players will also tour productions in Johnson City and Kingsport, Tenn., and Marion. This one will be performed at 10 a.m. Thursday at Marion Middle School.

Reservations and further information are available by calling 628-3991 locally or toll-free (800) 368-3240.
