OBIT DENT, WILLIAM (BILL) HARRISON
DENT, William (Bill) Harrison, 71, of 1348 Beth Scott Drive, Pulaski died
Tuesday, June 15, 1993, in the North Carolina Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem,
N.C. He was born in Longdale, Va. on August 10, 1921, and he was the son of
the late Harry S. Dent and Nell Hatchett Dent. Mr. Dent was General Manager of
Heritage-Buick in Pulaski (formerly Mayberry Buick), having 45 years of
service. He was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church, Pulaski.
He was a member and past exalted ruler of the Pulaski Elks Lodge #1067. He was
a member and past president of the Pulaski Country Club, now Thorn Spring Golf
Club, Pulaski. Mr. Dent was a graduate of Pulaski High School, Class of 1939.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Ratcliffe Dent. Surviving are one
daughter, Amy Dent Compton of Richmond; two brothers, Charles Edward Dent of
Pulaski and Jack D. Dent of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three grandchildren, Sam
Compton, Drew Compton and Tim Compton, all of Richmond. Funeral service will
be held Friday at 11 a.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev.
Richard Bethune officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visiting
will be Thursday evening at Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive
friends from 7 until 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that
memorials be made to the Presbyterian Children's Home of the Highlands, Inc.,
P. O. Box 545, Wytheville, VA 24382, or to the charity of one's choice.
