GARDNER-WHITESCARVER

Carol Jean Maslin Whitescarver and Scott Elliott Gardner were married June 26, 1993, in First United Methodist Church of Salem. The officiating ministers were Reverend Thomas Joyce and Reverend James Riach.

The matron of honor was Lisa Whitescarver, sister-in-law of the bride. The bridesmaids were Melanie Alley, Cristi LaPrad, Elizabeth Tarpley, Christine O'Keefe, Monica Fuenzalida, and Maria Ferreira, all friends of the bride. The best man was Michael Gardner, brother of the groom. The ushers were Scott Whitescarver, Todd Whitescarver, brothers of the bride, Scott Stanley, brother-in-law of the groom, Chris Clemens, Greg Phillips, and Pete Fox, all friends of the groom. Flowergirls were Natalie Whitescarver, niece of the bride, and Elizabeth Brittain, cousin of the groom. Ringbearers were Todd Derek Whitescarver, Jr., nephew of the bride, and Warren Michael Gardner, nephew of the groom.

Miss Whitescarver, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Furman Whitescarver, Jr., of Salem, graduated from Randolph-Macon College and is seeking her Masters degree in Education. Mr. Gardner, son of Mrs. Suzanne Gardner and the late Warren H. Gardner, of Salem, graduated from Virginia Tech and The T.C. Williams School of Law. He is currently practicing law in Salem.

After a wedding trip to San Francisco, the couple will reside in Salem.
