BICYCLE CLUB STARTS RIDES FOR WOMEN ONLY

The New River Valley Bicycle Club has started a new Women Only Alternative Ride. It will be held on the last Wednesday of every month.

The ride is for new or novice riders only. It is an alternative to the regular Wednesday night social ride. Riders will meet at 6 p.m. at the Virginia Tech Chapel.

The ride will be 12 to 15 miles at an easy pace.

The club has also announced its schedule of rides for July.

Saturday: Bluefield Century. Meet at 7 a.m. at Wolf Creek Park in Narrows. A fast century with a 16-18 mph pace. Call ride leader Paul Smith at 951-7825.

July 10: Big Falls Loop. Meet at 9 a.m. at Virginia Tech Chapel. A 30-mile river ride at an easy pace. Call ride leader Steve Hall at 951-1206.

July 17: Floyd Loop. Meet at 8 a.m. at the Riner Food Center on Virginia 8 in Riner. A 52-mile ride with some tough hills. Call ride leader Tim Myers at 951-5285.

July 24: Allegheny Springs Loop. Meet at 8 a.m. at Virginia Tech Chapel. A moderate 15 mph pace on a 58-mile ride off the beaten path. Call ride leader Paul Smith at 951-7825.

July 31: Shawsville and Elliston. Meet at 9 a.m. at Virginia Tech Chapel. A 40-mile tour of eastern Montgomery County at 15 mph. Call ride leader Erik Gronning at 951-7618.
