RESTAURANT REVIEW UNFAIR TO PARGO'S

REGARDING the recent restaurant review of Pargo's in the Dining Out column by Dolores Kostelni ("Roanoke Pargo's: hit or miss"):

I feel that Pargo's was not portrayed fairly. With all due respect to Ms. Kostelni's qualifications and experience, I cannot let her comments remain unchallenged.

Since the restaurant's opening, I have dined on approximately 30 occasions at lunch and dinner. I cannot recall being even mildly disappointed with the service, quantity of food, and certainly not with the quality. The atmosphere is friendly, staff attentive and the food is tasty and plentiful.

I do not consider myself an "expert" in cuisine but have dined in some of the most famous restaurants in the United States, such as Tavern on the Green, Brennans, Commander's Palace and Ponte's, which all have one thing in common with Pargo's: If something is not right, they make it right. The staff at Pargo's is certainly sophisticated to the point where they know that a satisfied customer is their best advertisement and is much more likely to return again and again.

When the food is not what one expects or the staff is slow in getting the check to the customer who may be anxious to leave, there is room for improvement. But in my experiences and the experiences of my friends who have dined there, the odds of having an enjoyable meal are definitely in your favor with a visit to Roanoke's Pargo's.
