SOUTHERN STATES COOPERATIVE'S Vinton feed mill received honorable mention in the 1993 Feed Mill of the Year contest for the second consecutive year. The contest, sponsored by the American Feed Industry Association and Feed Management magazine, judges mills on safety; compliance with federal and state regulations; housekeeping and plant appearance; production efficiency; feed quality; employee development and customer and community relations.

\ JAMIE PENCE, store manager of Mitchell's Formal Wear at Valley View Mall, has been named to Mitchell's Chairman's Club.

Pence has been named store manager of the year for the Virginia Region and has received the Distinguished Sales and Marketing Award by the sales and marketing executives of Tidewater and Norfolk, Mitchell's regional headquarters.

\ THE BOVA DISTRIBUTING COMPANY of Hollins has been designated as an "Ambassador Wholesaler" by Anheuser-Busch.

The award, the highest given to affiliated wholesalers, recognizes efforts in management, sales and marketing, delivery, warehousing, administration and community involvement.

\ DARRELL R. CRAIGHEAD of Salem has been named a registered representative for Fortis Investors Inc., a member of the Fortis Financial Group. Craighead is with Zimmerman & Associates in Salem.

\ THE NATIONAL EXECUTIVE HOUSEKEEPERS ASSOCIATION, CENTRAL VIRGINIA CHAPTER has elected the following officers: Floyd Weldon, supervisor of buildings department at Hollins College, president and education chairman; Diana Jones-Lewis, executive housekeeper at Holiday Inn-Tanglewood, vice president; Lois Childress, executive housekeeper at Lewis-Gale Clinic, recording secretary; Margie Lawrence, executive housekeeper at Virginia Tech, corresponding secretary; and May Thomas-Chattin, director of buildings and custodial services at Hollins College, treasurer.

\ MARY JO THOMPSON of Roanoke has been promoted to branch adviser, the first level of management in the Longaberger Co.'s sales program. She will recruit and train consultants.

\ DANNY BROWN of Roanoke, sales representative for Spring Air, Greensboro, N.C., has qualified for the company's Presidents Club for the seventh year. He was honored for last year's sales achievements.

\ LYNDA M. COOK and JULIE STEWART have received the Dorothy M. Smith CPS Scholarship from the Roanoke Chapter of Professional Secretaries International. Cook and Stewart, both of Roanoke, are 1993 graduates of Virginia Western Community College. The scholarship covers the cost of sitting for the Certified Professional Secretary exam.

\ THE ROANOKE DIVISION OF CHESAPEAKE PACKAGING CO. has been recognized as Quality and Quantity Supplier of the Year for 1992 by O'Sullivan Industries in South Boston. The division designed and manufactured corrugated containers that meet all of O'Sullivan's criteria for shipment of furniture to its customers.
