MCGUIRE'S FCS WIN DISALLOWED

Tim McGuire's joy at Franklin County Speedway was short-lived Saturday night.

Moments after apparently winning the 100-lap Late Model Stock feature and crediting the victory to a full day of tinkering by his crew, McGuire was disqualified. His vehicle failed inspection when it was found to be 10 pounds too light on the left side.

Instead, the victory was awarded to Tony McGuire, Tim's brother, who was the second driver across the finish line.

Glen Reed, chief inspector at the track, also disqualified front-runner Red Hartman in the Pure Stock division, giving R.W. Lawhorn his eighth victory of the year.

In the late races Saturday night:

Steve Hurley won the 50-lap Rookie contest, moving into the points lead. Gary Clifton was second, and George Blankenship took third.

Dean Sutphin won the Any Car event.
