LINKOUS SETS COURSE MARK WITH A 60

Roanoke golfer Dickie Linkous shattered his own course record Sunday at Hunting Hills Country Club.

Linkous used eight birdies and an eagle to complete his round in 10-under-par 60, two strokes better than his previous mark on the course. He went to the 18th green on his home course with a shot at 59, but he was unable to sink a birdie putt of about 25 feet.

Linkous birdied Nos. 2-5 and No. 9 en route to a 30 on the front side, then birdied Nos. 14-15 and 17 and eagled No. 11 on the back side. His playing partner for the record round was Scott Hunter.
