OBIT HOAL, U. A. ("LEFTY")

HOAL, U. A. ("Lefty"), 72, of Roanoke, died Sunday, July 11, 1993. He was a member and deacon of First Church of the Brethren, Roanoke. He was a member of Gideons International; he founded and formerly owned Wholesale Enterprises Inc., Roanoke; he was life time supporter and former manager of Camp Bethel, Fincastle; and served on the Outdoor Ministries Committee of the Virlina District Church of the Brethren for many years. He was preceded in death by his son, L. Michael Hoal, Roanoke. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, June Swann Hoal; daughter and son-in-law, Laura Hoal Heptinstall and Kevin L. Heptinstall, Roanoke; son and daughter-in-law, Alan E. Hoal and Debbie P. Hoal, Raleigh, N.C.; four grandchildren, Whitney and Amanda Heptinstall, Roanoke, Justin and Brittany Hoal, Raleigh, N.C.; his mother, Mrs. Maude Wimmer Hoel, Roanoke; one sister, Doris Hoel Jordan, Shawsville, one brother, Ernest W. Hoel, Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted from First Church of the Brethren, 2001 Carroll Ave., N.W., 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, 1993, with the Rev. Paul E. Alwine and Rev. David Shumate officiating. Burial in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Camp Bethel Endowment Fund, 2743 Bethel Road, Fincastle, VA 24090. Friends may call Oakey's North Chapel where the family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
