BUDGET DIRECTOR GOING TO HENRICO

Roanoke County Budget Director Reta Busher is leaving to take a similar position with Henrico County.

Busher, 34, said it was a difficult decision to leave after working for Roanoke County for nine years, the last six as budget director.

"I've been here a long time and Roanoke County, [County Administrator] Elmer Hodge and everyone here has been good to me," she said.

Hodge credited Busher with bringing a new level of professionalism to revenue forecasting and budget estimating.

"I would have to give her a great deal of credit for the financial strength of the county. Henrico County is an excellent county and I think she will do well there."

Her last day in Roanoke County will be Aug. 20. Henrico County will pay her $56,637, a $10,000 raise from her Roanoke County salary.

Hodge said he had made no decision on when to fill her position.

In addition to her work for the county, Busher held leadership positions with several Roanoke Valley organizations, including the Regional Chamber of Commerce, Family Services of the Roanoke Valley, Virginia Transportation Museum and the Art Museum of Western Virginia.
