SHIELDS-VAUGHAN

Felicia Monette Vaughan and D. Scott Shields were united in marriage on July 31, 1993, at the First Baptist Church in Galax, Virginia. The Reverend R. Claxton Hall officiated at the 7:00 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Maurice Vaughan, Jr., of Galax, Virginia. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Hattie Sue Catron and the late Mr. Roby E. Catron, of Galax, Virginia, and Mr. and Mrs. Freeman M. Vaughan, also of Galax, Virginia.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis L. Shields, of Panama City Beach, Florida. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Shields, of Augusta, Georgia, and Mr. and Mrs. V.H. Jones, of Key Largo, Florida.

A program of wedding music was presented by a string quartet and by Robyn S. Crosa, lyric soprano, from the North Carolina School of The Arts.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a gown of white silk shantung and white alencon lace embroidered with sequins and pearls. The tightly fitted bodice featured a sweetheart off-the-shoulder neckline with short lace and silk sleeves. The bodice had a dropped waistline and was covered completely with beaded lace. The sheath skirt of silk shantung was embellished at the bottom with a wide hemlace and lace appliques. An attached chapel train of silk shantung was finished with a border of lace and floating lace medallions. The chapel length two-tiered veil of diamond voile illusion was held by a headband of white silk shantung rosebuds and matching alencon lace. She carried a cascade of bridal white roses, lilies, and orchids with ivy and satin streamers.

Miss Janique Vaughan, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a black floor-length gown trimmed with a white off-the-shoulder sweetheart neckline. She carried a bouquet of roses with springerii, baby's breath, and satin streamers.

Bridesmaids were Miss Charla Evans, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Mrs. Lisa Carrico, of Galax, Virginia. Their gowns and flowers matched those of the honor attendant.

Mr. Richard DeRossette, of Atlanta, Georgia, was the best man. Groomsmen were David Shields, brother of the groom, and Dwayne McGlamery, both of Atlanta, Georgia. Ushers were John Moraski, of Blacksburg, Virginia, and Jay Moraski, of Galax, Virginia, both cousins of the bride.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents.

The bride is a graduate of Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. She is employed by Club Sports International in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The groom is a graduate of Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. He is employed by GCC Enterprises, Inc., also in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Following a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple will reside in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
