NAVY PETTY OFFICER 2ND CLASS JOHN L. DALTON, son of Kelly E. and John L. Dalton Jr. of 3023 Pebble Drive, recently participated in a fleet exercise in the Western Atlantic.

\ NAVY PETTY OFFICER 2ND CLASS DAVID I. HUNTER, a 1979 graduate of Patrick Henry High School, recently participated in a fleet exercise in the Western Atlantic.

\ NAVY SEAMAN RECRUIT MICHAEL A. MILLER, son of Johnny R. and Ruth A. Miller of 3530 Yellow Mountain Road, recently participated in a fleet exercise in the Western Atlantic. He is 1991 graduate of Patrick Henry High School.

\ NAVY CMDR. RICHARD C. RUSH, son of Charles C. Rush Sr. of 1706 Windsor Ave., has completed his tour as executive officer of AEGIS Training Center, Dahlgren.

His next assignment will be as commanding officer of the guided missile frigate USS Stark.

\ AIRMAN MICHAEL H. NEVERGOLD, son of JoAnn Overstreet of 6139 Darby Road, has been sent to Naval Air Station Cecil Field in Jacksonville, Fla. as part of the USS Theodore Roosevelt Battle Group. He is a 1989 graduate of William Byrd High School.

\ NAVY PETTY OFFICER 1ST CLASS WILLIAM W. JONES, son of William W. and Janie B. Jones of Roanoke, has reported for duty at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh, N.C.

\ NAVY SEAMAN WILLIAM M. SAUNDERS, son of Eula M. Saunders of Roanoke, has returned from a two-month Australian deployment aboard the aircraft carrier USS Independence.

\ LEONARD C. DILLON JR., son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard C. Dillon of Roanoke, completed basic training at Marine Corps Training Depot at Parris Island, S.C.

\ MARINE PFC. STEVEN E. DONOVAN, son of Judy K. and Steven E. Donovan Sr. of Roanoke, has reported for duty with Marine Helicopter Squadron 1 in Quantico.

\ AIRMAN LARRY DEAN MAYS, son of Doris K. Mays of Roanoke and the late Larry W. Mays, has graduated from basic training and security police air force training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, and air base ground defense training at Fort Dix, N.J. He is now stationed at Hurlbert Field, Fla.

\ SHELLEY L. BALDERSON of Roanoke has been promoted to captain in the Army Reserve and has assumed command of a company at Fort Pickett.
