OBIT MACKEY, NELL PREAS

MACKEY, Nell Preas, 95, a life-long resident of Bedford, died Thursday, August 19, 1993 at the Bedford County Nursing Home. She was the widow of Dr. Graham Leech Mackey. She is survived by a son, Hugh Preas Mackey; a daughter, Mrs. Elbert (June) Mackey Slaughter; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was a life-long member of the Bedford Baptist Church. She played the piano at the movie theater for the silent movies. She also played for Floyd Ward, Geraldine Fox and Margaret Krebs dance classes. She was a member of the Eastern Star and played the piano for the chapter for twenty-five years. She was also a member of the Bedford Firemans Band. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 1993 at Oakwood Cemetery by Dr. Ron Blankenship. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Bedford Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Updike Funeral Home on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
