OBIT BOWMAN, EFFIE MAE

BOWMAN, Effie Mae, 87, of Route 2, Hillsville, passed away Monday, September 6, 1993, at Twin County Community Hospital. She was born in Carroll County, May 5, 1906, to Wise Largen and Sallie Lewis Largen. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Josephine and Rudolph Gardner, Fancy Gap; sons and daughters-in-law, Tucker and Shirley Bowman, Hillsville, Paul and Orethia Bowman, Stoneville, N.C.; one brother, Berlie C. Largen, Hillsville; three sisters, Grace Jackson, Salem, Alma Lee Browder and Pauline Webb, both of Hillsville; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. William (Sallie) Largen and Mrs. Elvin (Ruth) Largen, both of Roanoke; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Victor Bowman. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, September 8, 1993, 11 a.m. at the Gladesboro Lutheran Church with the Rev. Duane Steele officiating. Burial in the Gladesboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel, Hillsville.
