SHERIFF WANTS TO MOVE HALLOWEEN BACK A DAY

Wythe County Sheriff Wayne Pike is seeking support from the county and its towns to move the observance of Halloween back one day.

Halloween, Oct. 31, now falls on a Sunday. Pike thinks it makes more sense for the county and Wytheville and Rural Retreat to roll it back to Saturday.

Neither town has taken any action on the proposal. Pike said his department will be working both Oct. 30 and 31 in any case.
